We Remain
Speaks for families of autistic individuals with very high support needs
PREAMBLE
The progress of civilization
is not measured only by how much light it creates,
but by whether it is willing
to leave enduring lamps
for those who can never walk into the light.
Some cannot speak.
Some cannot express fear.
Some live their entire lives
only through the goodwill of others.
They are not the protagonists of history.
Nor are they the center of society’s narratives.
They simply exist.
Quietly existing.
And their parents,
every day, silently ask the same question:
When I am no longer here,
what will become of them?
SECTION I — THE UNSEEN
They cannot tell their own stories.
They cannot prove whether they are being cared for, respected, or protected.
They do not complain.
They do not accuse.
They leave no written records.
If they are neglected, forgotten, or harmed,
the world may never know.
And if a civilization cannot continuously see these lives,
it cannot be called a complete civilization.
SECTION II — THE DEBT OF CIVILISATION
A society has a responsibility to care for those who can speak.
But the true measure of a civilization
lies in how it treats those who can never speak for themselves.
They are not failures.
They are not burdens.
They are not statistics.
They are the most vulnerable,
and the most silent part of humanity.
If civilization cannot reserve a place for them,
then the future of civilization itself will remain incomplete.
SECTION III — CONTINUUM
We name this civilizational responsibility — CONTINUUM.
It is not a service, nor a project,
but a long-term safeguarding commitment layer
placed within the very foundation of civilization.
It exists to affirm one fundamental truth:
In this society,
lives that can never speak for themselves
must be continuously seen, remembered, and safeguarded.
CONTINUUM does not exist to create miracles,
but to ensure that, over time,
these lives are not quietly left behind
amid institutional changes and caregiving transitions.
REMEMBRANCE
As history continues to write its triumphs,
as cities continue to grow in brightness,
as civilization continues to move forward —
we remain behind.
For those who cannot keep pace.
For those who cannot call out.
For those who can only continue to exist
if they are remembered.
